Alex North’s Music For 2001: A Space Odyssey

H2IndO Original Motion Picture Soundtrack now on iTunes

Dylanna Music has released the Soundtrack to the Stand Up Paddle documentary H2IndO, directed by Brent Deal, and starring Connor Baxter, Dave Boehne, Talia Gangini, Dave Kalama, Jamie Mitchell, Chuck Patterson, and Slater Trout.

Katie is a Dublin-based singer/songwriter adored by Ireland’s biggest music critics and fans worldwide. Katie adds a hauntingly, soulful quality to this beloved love song.

Institute of Hawaiian Music Needs You!

The Challenge; The Institute of Hawaiian Music needs to raise $40,000 by March 1st, 2012 for the matching grant deadline, then another $100,000 by September 1st for the total $200,000 matching grant. The month-long UH Maui College Institute of Hawaiian Music (IHM)  fund-raising campaign is now less than a week away from the first phase deadline of March 1.  Recently, the Harold K.L. Castle Foundation pledged $200,000 to IHM as a 1:1 challenge grant, and as of today over $61,000 has been raised towards that challenge!IHM Director George Kahumoku Jr. shared: “We are deeply grateful for the Castle Foundation’s support of Hawaiian musicians.  Many Hawaiian music fans around the world and local community members have generously supported this effort — for IHM student scholarships, and possible future endowed student scholarships.”

He added: “We need to continue our fund-raising in a big way and raise an additional $40,000 by March 1, 2012 for the first matching  grant deadline, then another $100,000 by September 1 2012 for the total $200,000 matching grant.  Mahalo to everybody who is joining this great effort for the Institute of Hawaiian Music!”

Meet John O’Kennedy, Composer, Producer and Musician

John O’Kennedy is a composer, record producer and multi-instrumental session musician.  John has hundreds of film music credits in his association with Walt Disney Productions, Warner Brothers, Universal, Roger Corman, Hughes Aerospace, IBM, TDK Media, and the USA Network.  His most recent CD productions are The Voodoo Fixs Not For Nothing and Cameron Daddo’s Ten Songs and Change. Given his 30 years of experience with LA-area singer-songwriters and bands, he is known for his collaborative music direction, tasteful session work and intuitive accompaniment.

On producing both the Mariachi and Celtic versions of “Unchained Melody” for Variations: Dylanna Music Presents Unchained Melody, John said, “How cool is it to be asked to do what I do best: producing two different versions of such a timeless classic?”

Help Preserve Hawaiian Music and Culture

Our dear friend and Grammy great, George Kahumoku Jr. has asked us to share a project that is near and dear to his heart and to ours as well. Dylanna Music Announces “Variations: Dylanna Music Presents Unchained Melody”

On April 17th, Dylanna Music will release  a new album, Variations: Dylanna Music Presents Unchained Melody— a collection of diverse renditions of the timeless love song, “Unchained Melody”. We know the intimate song is so enduring because it can be whispered or belted. The song is a sensation in multiple voices and tempos, textures and genres. Listeners will find each version irresistible, and fall in love with the song again and again, just as we have.

Variations: Dylanna Music Presents Unchained Melody will include interpretations by music greats– reggae master Toots Hibbert, Hawaiian Grammy winner George Kahumoku Jr., jazz virtuoso guitarist Denny “Deadly” Earnest, and more. Variations will also include dance, Mariachi, a cappella, Celtic, and a blues versions.
